A Friendship That Changed Everything

The story of Bulang and Sons is deeply connected to friendships and shared dreams. Twelve years ago, our founder Bernhard Bulang met his friend Geoff Hess (aka @ManhattanRollie) at a watch event in London, and this meeting changed everything. Bernhard shared his dream of creating a brand that would transform the vintage watch market by adding a rich lifestyle element. At that time, Geoff was the CEO of a famous jewelry company, and he supported Bernhard to follow his dream. His support and these great talks encouraged Bernhard to start what has become Bulang and Sons today.

Geoff Hess is not only the founder of Rolliefest — one of the most prestigious watch gatherings in the world — but also a dear friend to Bernhard and the family for over 15 years. It all started when he first joined the famous Passion Meetings, which Bernhard hosted back in the days. And ever since they share a deep friendship. From their mutual admiration for iconic Rolex models to their evolving tastes in watch collecting, the journeys have been intertwined in the most delightful ways.




His support was very influential for our success. To show our gratitude, we created a special watch strap in his honor: the limited edition ManhattanRollie watch strap. 




Drawing from his sophisticated taste, Bernhard set out to design a strap that embodies elegance and makes a bold style statement. It's a fusion of traditional vintage elements with a touch of modern sophistication, reflecting our mutual passion for exceptional watches.

The journey of creating this strap was filled with inspiration and dedication. From the moment Bernhard set eyes on Geoff's stunning Lange 1815 Rattapante in honey gold, he  knew he had to design a strap that would complement its beauty perfectly.

Creating a Masterpiece

The creation of this watch strap was a labor of love. Bernhard traveled to Italy to work with his good friend and master watch strap maker, Jean Paul Menicucci. They spent days perfecting the design, ensuring every detail was just right. The strap is made from very exclusive leather from a Tuscany tannery that no longer produces this type of leather. This makes the strap truly unique and a real limited edition.


Since over 10 years Jean-Paul Menicucci has been our partner to create some of the most iconic Bulang and Sons watch strap.

What makes this watch strap even more special is that absolutely all profits from its sale will go to The Horological Society of New York (HSNY). This non-profit organization supports the future of watchmaking in many ways, including by providing scholarships and educational programs.
