A real contemporary witness
When you talk about individual furniture these days, designers and manufacturers like Ray & Charles Eames, Cassina, Vitra, Herman Miller, Knoll are common names to hear... the list goes on and on.
Not only from the popular mid-century epoch, but also from earlier times, certain designs are in high demand. In this context, there is no way around a brand:
Thonet
What began in Germany in the early 1830s consistently stands for iconic chair designs. In particular, their iconic Cane Woven surfaces. The most famous was the Rockchair No. 1 which came onto the market at the end of the 18th century and is also the image of our unique object on offer.
This award was presented to Girau Móveis from Thonets headquarters in Vienna at the end of the 1950s for 80 years of loyal sales services at the Riode De Janeiro location in Brazil.
The design of the Rocking Chair No. 1 remains an iconic designer masterpiece that has been copied endlessly. This unique flowing form of the design as a miniature on the award and its history make this object unique.
A heavy and robust execution combining brass and fine wood with the perfect patina and an even greater provenance.
